Top 5 Ways to Get Energised When You’re Feeling Tired

Feeling tired all the time can really take a toll on your relationships, work and health. Here are five great ways to put that “pep” back into your step!

Drink Tea.   A University of London study shows that drinking just 4 – 6 cups of green tea throughout the day can reduce your stress hormone levels, leaving you feeling relaxed and more alert.

Breathe. When you’re feeling in a slump, taking a few deep breaths can revitalise you. Breathe in slowly, and hold your breath for a second or two. Then exhale slowly. Repeat 5 – 10 times and you are bound to feel more centred, calm and energised.

Organise. A lot of times having too much on your plate or feeling overwhelmed can drain you of all your energy. Purge low-value tasks from your to-do list, have realistic expectations of what you can accomplish, prioritise and get organised. You’ll feel lighter, and more energetic when you take the time to do it.

Take a brisk walk. Getting outside for fresh air and a change of scenery can do wonders for your energy levels. Plus, getting some sun will “wake” you up and let your body know that it’s not bedtime yet.

Get your thyroid checked. Chronic fatigue can sometimes be a symptom of hypothyroidism. Simply put, your body is not producing enough of the thyroid hormone it needs, with fatigue being one of its symptoms. Ask your doctor to get tested if you think this may be the case.
