Studioz At Stage 1 – Adelaide’s Tour Down Under

I’m currently over in Adelaide, South Australia, following the Tour Down Under with my eldest daughter Emily.  We came here last year and the experience was fantastic, so we thought we would make the journey this year as well.

This year Lance Armstrong has returned to the event and there are some other legends such as Cadel Evans, Stuart O’Grady, Robbie McEwan, Michael Rogers and many other local and international stars.

Yesterday, Tuesday 19 January, 2010 was Stage 1 from Clare to Tanunda in the Barossa Valley.  It was beautiful weather, about 29 degrees.  Great atmosphere in the town and we stationed ourselves about 500m from the end.  The power of these cyclists is absolutely unbelievable.  You really need to be here to know what I’m talking about.  You just don’t get an appreciation for how fast these guys push the bike when you watch it on television.

There was a slight incline to the finish line and the peloton must have passed us doing at least 65km per/hr – the noise and gust of wind you hear and feel when they pass is amazing.  Andre Greipel took out first place and now wears the Ochre Jersey tomorrow.

We’re heading to the finish at Hahndorf today for Stage 2.
