4 Holiday Spices That Are GREAT For Your Health

Enjoy the holiday season by getting a little more of these healthy spices:

  1. Cinnamon. This holiday spice is simply amazing. Here’s a quick breakdown of what it can help you with: Numerous studies show it can help normalise blood sugar in type-2 diabetics … other studies show it can help lower your LDL “bad” cholesterol … it has anti-inflammatory properties … along with anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Whew! Not bad for something that smells and tastes great, right?

  1. Cloves. This spice is no slouch either. And frankly, it packs an ENORMOUS punch! Just half a teaspoon has more antioxidant content than half a cup of blueberries! As you may already know, antioxidants are critical in helping prevent disease and inflammation in the body.

  1. Peppermint. This traditional spice is normally found in candy canes. But as it turns out, it’s very effective at soothing upset stomachs and can even help with headaches and stress! If you have a headache, just rub a little peppermint oil on your forehead, or take a few whiffs of the oil to get calm when you’re feeling anxious.

  1. Nutmeg. This has been used for thousands of years as a way to induce drowsiness for those with trouble sleeping. So if you’re ever “wired” and just can’t calm down enough to sleep, add a little nutmeg to your hot chocolate.
